Philipp Lahm

Philipp Lahm is a full back who plays for German side Bayern München and Germany. Lahm came to the Bayern youth academy as an 11 year old. Lahm was sent on loan to Stuttgart for the 2003-04 and 2004-05 seasons. At Stuttgart he established himself as a Bundeliga player but finished the second season out injured. He had made his debut in the German first team in February 2004 and played in the 2004 UEFA European Championship.
Back with Bayern München he gradually made his way back from injury and into the first team. He came back to top form and consistently was outstanding for both club and country. Lahm was one of the best players in the 2006 FIFA World Cup. He was also the only German player who played every minute of every game. He repeated that feat in the 2010 FIFA World Cup, this time as Germany’s youngest ever World Cup captain, after regular captain Michael Ballack was injured prior to the tournament. Lahm is also the vice-captain of Bayern München.

Peter Crouch

March 3rd, 2010 by FrankO

Peter Crouch is a centre forward who plays for English side Stoke City and England’s national team. At 6 ft 7 in Crouch is the tallest man to have played for England. He has quite an outstanding track record as a goal scorer while playing for England, including 11 in one year – a post-war record for England.
Crouch joined the Tottenham youth academy at age 14 and signed a professional contract in 1998, when he was 17. After two years without much prospect of getting into the first team he signed with fellow London club Queens Park Rangers, in fact the club Crouch had supported while growing up. He had a good season with QPR in the First Division (now the Championship), scoring ten league goals, then moving on to Portsmouth for the 2001-02 where he scored 18 league goals in the First Division. The following season Crouch was sold to Premier League club Aston Villa. He found himself struggling to be a regular starter at Villa and in the middle of his second season went on loan to Norwich. Although only playing three months at Norwich, Crouch contributed to Norwich winning the 2003-04 First Division Championship. The way he played at Norwich didn’t go unnoticed and Harry Redknapp signed Crouch from Aston Villa to Southampton. He further showcased himself at Southampton but couldn’t rescue the club from being relegated from the Premiership. Crouch on the other hand was called up to play for England and Liverpool signed him from Southampton.
In Crouch’s first season at Liverpool he struggled for 4 months to score his first goal for the club. It eventually came and he was instrumental for them winning the 2006 FA Cup. The next season he was Liverpool’s top scorer in all competitions with 18 goals, a season where Liverpool won the UEFA Champions League. In July 2008 Crouch signed with Portsmouth again, with Harry Redknapp, his ex-manager from Southampton. Redknapp later went on to Tottenham and only one year after returning to Portsmouth Crouch followed him back to the club of his youth.
In his first season at Spurs Crouch scored several goals but none more important than in the 1-0 win away at Manchester City. That win secured Tottenham’s 4th place finish in the Premier League and entry into the play-offs for the UEFA Champions League.
On the last day of the 2011 summer transfer window Crouch signed a four year deal with Stoke City.
