Martín Demichelis is a centre back who plays for German side Bayern München and Argentina. Demichelis arrived from Argentinian side River Plate to Bayern München in 2003. He used to play as a midfielder but was transformed to a defender at Bayern. Ahead of the 2010-11 season Demichelish had a fall-out with Bayern’s head coach Louis van Gaal. He has so far not played any matches this season and might be leaving the club. Demichelish had his debut for Argentina in 2007 and was part of the Argentinian squad in the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Daniel Van Buyten is a centre back who plays for German side Bayern München and the Belgian national team. The early years of his professional career were with Belgian Clubs Sporting Charleroi and Standard Liège. In 2001 he went to Olympique de Marseille in France. While playing for Marseille he became a regular in Belgium’s national team.
Van Buyten had a brief spell with Manchester City in 2004, on loan from Marseille, but eventually made a move to Hamburger SV in Germany. He got a solid reputation while at HSV and rivals Bayern München secured his transfer ahead of the 2006-07 season. At Bayern he has enjoyed his greatest achievements, having won 2 Bundesliga titles, 2 German Cups and 1 German League Cup with the team. They were also runners-up in the 2010 UEFA Champions League final.

Bastian Schweinsteiger is a midfielder who plays for German side Bayern München and Germany. Schweinsteiger came up through the youth ranks at Bayern. He made his first team debut in November 2002, as an 18 year old, in a Champions League match vs RC Lens. Just over 18 months later he played his first match for Germany’s first team. Today Schweinsteiger is at 26 years old rapidly becoming one of the most capped players both for his club and his national team.

Philipp Lahm is a full back who plays for German side Bayern München and Germany. Lahm came to the Bayern youth academy as an 11 year old. Lahm was sent on loan to Stuttgart for the 2003-04 and 2004-05 seasons. At Stuttgart he established himself as a Bundeliga player but finished the second season out injured. He had made his debut in the German first team in February 2004 and played in the 2004 UEFA European Championship.
Back with Bayern München he gradually made his way back from injury and into the first team. He came back to top form and consistently was outstanding for both club and country. Lahm was one of the best players in the 2006 FIFA World Cup. He was also the only German player who played every minute of every game. He repeated that feat in the 2010 FIFA World Cup, this time as Germany’s youngest ever World Cup captain, after regular captain Michael Ballack was injured prior to the tournament. Lahm is also the vice-captain of Bayern München.
