Joe Cole Liverpool

Joe Cole was Roy Hodgson’s first signing after taking charge at Liverpool F.C. He arrived on a free transfer from Chelsea and is one of the players Liverpool is counting on to improve a disappointing start to the 2010/11 season. On October 4th he has also been recalled to the England squad, for their Euro2012 qualifier against Montenegro.

Maxi Rodriguez

Maxi Rodríguez is a right winger who plays for English side Liverpool and Argentina. He came to Liverpool on a free transfer in January 2010 after almost 8 years in the Spanish La Liga. He first made a name for himself at Espanyol, followed by Atlético Madrid. At Atlético he was the captain after Fernando Torres left for Liverpool. Rodríguez was a member of the Argentinian U-20 team who won the 2001 FIFA World Youth Championship. He made his senior debut against Japan in June 2003, in which he scored.

Doni is a Brazilian goalkeeper who plays for English side Liverpool. Doni started his career with Corinthians but also played for Santos, Cruzeiro and Juventude before moving to Italy and AS Roma in 2005. Doni has played 10 times for his country. He was in the 2010 Brazilian World Cup squad as the third choice goalkeeper, behind Inter Milan’s Júlio César and Tottenham’s Heurelho Gomes. On 15 July 2011 he signed for Liverpool.

Steven Gerrard

Steven Gerrard

Steven Gerrard is a central midfielder, sometimes played as a winger or second striker. He is born and bred in Liverpool and made his senior debut for Liverpool F.C. in November 1998, at the age of 18. He joined the Liverpool youth academy already as a 9 year old. Gerrard became the Liverpool captain in October 2003. He made his debut for England in May 2000 and has also served as captain and vice-captain for the national side. Gerrard has built himself a huge reputation both as a star player and leader. He is perhaps the one both his club and national side have counted on the most to lead through tough times.

Jamie Carragher

Jamie Carragher

Jamie Carragher is a defender who plays for English side Liverpool. He has also played 38 times for England. Carragher made his first team debut for Liverpool as an 19 year old, in September 1997. He has since gone on to win two FA Cups, two League Cups and the 2005 UEFA Champions League. They were also runners-up in the 2007 Champions League and in the 2008-09 Premier League.
Carragher was Liverpool’s Player of the Year in the 2006-07 season.
