Giuseppe Rossi is a striker who plays for Spanish side Villarreal and the Italian national team. Rossi was born in the USA, to Italian immigrants, but moved to Italy as a 13 year old to join Parma’s youth squad. At age 17 his contract was signed over to English side Manchester United. Rossi was sent out on loan, first to Newcastle, then back to Parma. While playing at Parma he was noticed by other clubs and in July 2007 he signed with Villarreal. Rossi had only played a handful of matches for Manchester United but a clause in the contract allows United to buy him back at a later date.
At Villarreal Rossi has firmly established himself as a top striker and is the club’s top scorer. Rossi has also played himself up through they youth ranks of the Italian national team. He was their top scorer at the 2008 Summer Olympics. He narrowly missed out on a place in the 2010 FIFA World Cup squad.
